Welcome

Welcome to my cyber world!

Welcome to the bipolar world of writing.
Last year I was nearly published. At least I had a contract with a successful agent who was sure that selling my novel would be easy. How easy? It was a sure bet.
So what happened? My book did not sell and I terminated my relationship with that agent.
So what does a writer do when their novel, or their second novel, or their third . . . you get the idea, does not sell? They keep writing because that is what writers do!
There are all sorts of writers.
Some write the news.
Some write poetry.
I write novels, but my writing career didn’t start that way.
My first published work was a review of Scottish golf courses.
I had sent out a raft of query letters attempting to sell an article titled, Scotland’s Secret Golf Treasures.
By the time my plane lifted off the San Francisco tarmac I had not received a single positive response.
But I didn’t let a fist full of rejection letters dissuade me.
I wandered all over Scotland, played a raft of courses, took copious notes and photos—betting, hoping, that someday I would sell the article.
After I returned home I opened an envelope that told me Golf Illustrated wanted my story, and they would pay me $750.00.
A few months later, I sold my second article, then my third. Over the next ten years I wrote a monthly golf column, reviewed golf courses, resorts, even restaurants. But then I started my first novel. It didn’t take me long to discover that writing fiction was my first love.
In addition to writing novels, I perform in, and attend a raft of theatrical productions, so I have added reviews of the various plays, musicals and movies I have attended. The latest review shows below. To read more reviews, go to my Musings page and let me know if you agree with my views.
One final thought. Most of my friends, actually, I think all my friends, are sure I should give up writing. What they don't know is that over my desk hangs the following quote from Winston Churchill:
"NEVER GIVE UP, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER.
